Geometrics, Expressions, Impressions: StudioEleven Artists at the Colburn

Colburn School  |   200 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012

"Geometrics, Expressions, Impressions: StudioEleven Artists at the Colburn", refers to structures and elements of music, dance and the visual artworks at Colburn this year.  As in music and dance, visual art incorporates geometric forms both consciously and intuitively to create harmonies, patterns, consistency and expressive qualities. Some artworks focus more on expression and perception or impressions, which are also key elements of music and dance composition and performance.

StudioEleven Artists is a community dedicated to attentive artistic exploration, growth and accomplishment. This is the sixth annual exhibition of their work at the Colburn campus.

artist statement

“In the 1960’s, my first academic experience was grounded in American abstraction. Over the years I have explored various styles from figurative narratives to minimalist statements and have developed techniques in using mixed media combinations that are often stabilized within a grid.   My latest work returns to early roots that rely on the unconscious, the primal nature of mark making connecting mind and body. I consider every struggle an adventure, a pathway to new expression. My end goal remains personal satisfaction in the process itself.”
